Quirky

"Quirky" won first place in the abstract category at the Sierra Watercolor Society judged show in September 2017. It is a mixed media watercolor on yupo. the yupo adds challenges to painting in that the plastic does not absorb any of the paint and tends to take on a life of it's own. When I first started working on yupo I hated it. Learning to let go of control was not appealing to me. As I continued to work on this surface, I came to appreciate working with the surface to create truly original artwork. This piece is now at Artsy Fartsy Gallery in Carson City.
