This is an acrylic on yupo. Yupo is a plastic "paper" that is challenging to work on. It was originally created by the ad companies to put ads on the street. It was resistant to weather and remained readable under adverse conditions. Artists discovered it after a few years and started to work on it with watercolor and acrylics. When I first tried it, I hated it. It has a mind of its own and counters some of the normal techniques that artists use. After trying it a few times more, I came to appreciate the interaction of my desires with that of the medium. I have come to love it as a surface to work on. Different Drummer is one of the interesting paintings I was able to execute on this medium. It is available for sale at $500.
