Encaustic Painting - Success Loop

Encaustic Painting - Success Loop

I am now experimenting with encaustics. What are encaustics? Encaustic Painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The technique goes back to ancient Egypt around 100-300 AD. However, many contemporary artists have used this method, including Jasper Johns and Diego Rivera. My example, shown here, is of the Success Loop just outside of Ely Nevada. It is being shown this month at The Artist's Co-op in Reno. The 8x8 painting sells for $150.
